Overview

IACBMC has a rich tradition of serving county
government and elected officials.


Advocacy and Governmental Relations

IACBMC serves as the official voice of Illinois county government in Springfield. On behalf of its member counties, IACBMC communicates and advocates positions in the legislative and regulatory arenas at the state level. IACBMC staff coordinates testimony before legislative committees, prepares amendments and meets with legislators and their staff regularly.

Communications
IACBMC develops and distributes many publications which provide valuable information and assistance to county officials. The Association serves as the focal point for providing information to the general public on county government and its activities. IACBMC also works to make the media more aware of the issues and positions of county government. Efforts include press releases and reports explaining the county perspective.

Education
Providing county officials with the education they need, when they need it, has long been a major focus of IACBMC. The Association partners with state universities to develop valuable educational and informational programs to assist the membership in the operations of county government. Education programs implemented by IACBMC include the Certified County Officials (CCO) program and the Institute for Execellence in County Governance.

Purchasing Programs
IACBMC has a number of enterprise efforts that provide goods and services to local governments. Through pooling and service negotiation these programs provide significant savings to counties. Such services include the Counties of Illinois Risk Management Agency (CIRMA) and the John Deere Equipment program.

Networking
IACBMC hosts many events through the year that provide specialized training and networking opportunities. The Association also provides county officials the opportunity to take leadership roles and interact with other officials by serving on policy committees.
