Illinois ResourceNet: A Funding Access Initiative hosts "Illinois Communities Rising," the second Annual Statewide Conference on September 16th, 2010 at the UIC Forum, located on the corner of Halsted Street and Roosevelt Road in Chicago, Illinois.
This year, the conference's theme is centered on Illinois ResourceNet's signature place-based model helping communities throughout the State of Illinois connect to federal funding opportunities. Our confirmed keynote speaker is well-recognized author and urbanist, Joel Kotkin. Read his recent article, Millennial Surprise published in Forbes.com on June 22nd, 2010.
At our first conference, around 400 participants attended and this year we anticipate a slightly larger group of around 500-600.
The trade fair will include federal, state and planning organizations and agencies. Each booth will provide the opportunity for its organization to share information on the resources that they provide to communities, non-profits and local units of government and network with conference participants. There is no charge to host a booth and we have reserved the UIC Forum for the day before the event to ease in the set-up of booths and displays.
