Interim Salary Survey of Elected Officials 2010

Interim Salary Survey of Elected Officials 2010 Salary Schedule
Between the comprehensive Salary and Benefits Survey published every other year by the Illinois Association of County Board Members and Commissioners (IACBMC), interim surveys are conducted to update information on changes in salaries and benefits for county officials and county employees. This survey was conducted to assess the change in salary schedules for the county offices up for election on November 2, 2010.

• County Board
• County Board Chairman
• County Treasurer
• County Clerk
• County Sheriff
• County Assessment Officer
• Board of Review

The response rate for the survey was forty-three (43) counties. All compensation data reported is reflective of completed surveys only – twenty-five (25) counties.

In accordance with Illinois statute, the salaries of the county board members and county-wide elected officials must be approved by the county board at least 180 days prior to the beginning of their term of office. County government budgets in Illinois remain historically low. The salary schedules for 2010 show a modest increase, if any, which reinforces that county governments are following principles of responsible fiscal management.
